Telerobotics

Telerobotic systems allow a robot manipulator to be controlled from a physically separate location. Telerobotics allows humans to manipulate objects whose location or size precludes direct human manipulation.

Applications include hazardous environments such as nuclear power plants or space station construction & operations. It can also be used for working with small or difficult-to-reach objects, such as when doing endoscopic surgery.

    Devices & Technologies

Mini direct-drive robot - The Minirobot is a small-scale direct-drive robot designed for manipulating small, delicate objects with high positioning precision and accurate force control.

Pen Based Force Display - A direct-drive, parallel, actuation redundant, three degree-of-freedom haptic device designed to provide force feedback information generated by either a master-slave system or a virtual simulation. The operator interacts with it using either the fingertip or a freely held pen-like tool.
