General Information on the Biorobotics Lab

Facilities


The BioRobotics lab founded by Prof. B. Hannaford at the University of Washington is a 1200 ft^2 research facility currently shared by Prof. Chizeck and Prof. Rosen and their collaborators. This lab serves as a melting pot of research, technology and human resources in Robotics and Biomedical Engineering. The Biorobotics Lab is working closely with the Center of Video Endoscopic Surgery (CVES). The CVES lab is frequently used for studies associated with surgery.

 

Generic Hardware

  • 3 Seiko bench-top industrial robots: 2 XY2000 and 1 RT 2000. Assembly cell tooling and parts feeder for 5-part assembly using XY2000 robot.
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC-Direct 205 series).

Custom Made Hardware

Computes Hardware / Software

  • Numerous PC & Workstations.
  • Maple, Matlab, Mathematica, Solidworks, C Compilers etc.
Machine Shop (Access)
  • Machine-shop with 3-axis CNC desktop mill (Prolight 2000), lathes, manual mills, etc.
